When should a book be submitted?
The Author Selection Committee accepts submissions through January 5, 2015. Preference is given to authors with new books or significant reprints scheduled for publication between January 2014 and March 2015.
What types of books are considered?
The selection committee chooses as diverse a group as possible regarding subject of publication, targeted age level (adult, teen, children), and popularity of the book (best seller vs. academia). Festival programming includes, but is not limited to, the following sub-categories: international intrigue, mystery, thriller, historical fiction, biography, cooking, literary, poetry, regional, romance, children's, young adult, graphic novels, and art. Books written in all languages are considered.
What is the author selection process?
The Author Selection Committee considers all submissions, in addition to referrals from publishers and authors, to determine the best fit for the UCF Book Festival. Author selection runs through January 5, 2015 and is subject to closing earlier based on space availability. There is approximately a 10% acceptance rate. Authors will be notified of their selection status no later than February 13, 2015. As part of the selection process, a copy of title(s) may be requested. In these instances, if title(s) is not accepted for the event, the title(s) becomes the property of the UCF Book Festival.
Selected authors will be asked to submit two copies of title selected, a brief biography, and high resolution photo (.jpg file) within four weeks of invitation.
