When should a book be submitted?
The Author Selection Committee accepts book submissions through January 31, 2013. Preference is given to authors with new books or significant reprints scheduled for publication between January 2012 and March 2013.
What types of books are considered?
The selection committee chooses as diverse a group as possible regarding subject of publication, targeted age level (adult, teen, children), and popularity of the book (best seller vs. academia). Festival programming includes, but is not limited to, the following sub-categories: International intrigue, mystery, thriller, historical fiction, biography, cooking, literary, poetry, regional, romance, children's, young adult, graphic novels, and art. Books written in all languages are considered.
Should a self-published author submit?
We do not accept self-published books. However, self-published authors are encouraged to participate in the festival as vendors. Please see Vendor page.
What is the author selection process?
The Author Selection Committee considers the submissions and chooses who will be invited. Author selection runs through
January 31, 2013 and is subject to closing earlier based on space availability. There is approximately a 40% acceptance rate. Authors will be notified of their selection status no later than February 15, 2012.
Selected authors will be asked to submit a brief biography, book synopsis, and high resolution photo (.jpg file) within four weeks of invitation. Accommodations and travel will be provided for accepted authors. Authors not selected as part of the author panels are encouraged to participate in the festival as vendors.
