Dr. Aldrin E. Sweeney is Associate Professor of Science Education in the Department of Teaching & Learning Principles at the University of Central Florida. His primary area of research concerns itself with the professional preparation and professional development of science teachers at the elementary and secondary levels. Secondary areas of research interest include K-12 science education in developing countries; ethical issues associated with ongoing developments in nanoscience and nanotechnology; and program evaluation, relating especially to pedagogical concerns in undergraduate and graduate level engineering degree programs.

Primary courses taught in the College of Education at UCF include the following:

  • SCE 3310 (undergraduate level science methods course for preservice elementary teachers).
  • SCE 4360 (undergraduate level science methods course for preservice secondary teachers and inservice teachers seeking science certification or re-certification).
  • SCE 5937 (graduate level science methods course for alternative certification candidates or inservice teachers seeking science certification or re-certification).
  • SCE 6909 (supervision of M.A. and M.Ed. research theses in mathematics and science education).
