Sandra L. Robinson, Dean of the College of Education, received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Marshall University and the Master of Education and Ph.D. degrees from Duke University.

  • Dr. Robinson's area of interest is early childhood education.
  • She is a mother of two and is an active writer and presenter for teacher preparation and education.
  • Dean Robinson came to the University of Central Florida in 1997 as Dean and Professor.
  • Her prior employment consists of being Interim Dean, Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, NCAA/SEC Faculty Athletics Representative, Associate Dean for Intercollegiate Teacher Education and Students Affairs, Director of NCATE and NASDTEC Accreditation, Director of Graduate Studies, Director of Field Experiences, and Director of Student Teaching at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC.
  • She has also been the Director and Teacher at Meadowbrook Learning Center in Fredonia, Wisconsin and Columbia, SC; Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Education at Marquette University; Assistant Director and Instructor at the Duke University in Durham, NC; Assistant Coordinator of Reading for Durham County Schools, a Coordinator, Reading Teacher and Teacher for Grades K-3 in the Durham County Schools; Counselor for the Y.M.C.A. at Camp Lawrence in Laconia, NH; a classroom teacher in Harford County Schools in Bel Air, MD; and a Y.M.C.A. counselor at Camp Clark in New Bedford, MA. Dean Robinson has made many scholarly and professional presentations all over the United States, in Europe and in Africa on topics ranging from early childhood education to reading to innovative educational initiatives.
  • Dean Robinson is a member of many professional and learned societies such as ACEI, Phi Delta Kappa, AACTE (American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education); Kappa Delta Pi.
  • *Her areas of research interest are: Reading, PK-12; Kindergarten offerings in the US; grades and grading; and children's fears. She has served on Florida's Commission for Education Reform and Accountability Commission and currently serves on the Education Standards Commission for the State of Florida.
  • In 2002, Dean Robinson was recognized as the faculty member who received the highest total of grant funding at UCF. She is the principal investigator for Florida's Literacy and Reading Excellence Center (FLaRE).
