Eligible Honors in the Major (HIM) Education students with high grade point averages were celebrated during a Fall semester reception. The event is an informational session for potential students to learn more about becoming a part of the HIM program, the most advanced undergraduate research program that provides students with an opportunity research one-on-one with a professor and write the equivalent of a Master’s degree thesis as an undergraduate.
The program is designed for juniors and seniors to undertake original and independent work in their major. Students research, write, defend, and publish an original Honors thesis that serves as the capstone product of their undergraduate career. The thesis is published through the university library and is available to researchers worldwide through electronic databases.
This year’s festivities featured 65 students, Dean Pamela Carroll and The Burnett Honors College Dean Alvin Wang expressing their support, and HIM students Casey Briand, Kaysey Wann, Audra Greuel, Elizabeth Bello, and Kaleigh Swift receiving a $1,000 scholarship.
