LEAD IT Program is Recruiting Prospective Exceptional Education Doctoral Students

Lead Inclusion and Transition (LEAD IT) is a grant-funded project with the goal of preparing exceptional education leaders with scholarship and leadership skills to support emerging initiatives and opportunities for inclusion of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in P-12 and postsecondary settings (P-20).

Funding includes tuition, fees, annual stipend, and internships in Washington, D.C. and online with Think College along with integrated experiences in college programs for students with IDD across the State of Florida.

The project will provide doctoral students with an opportunity to work collaboratively in three areas:

• Traditional coursework with faculty across the State of Florida through TIPSID partnerships.

• Projects with a fully inclusive elementary school in a high-need LEA within Orange County Public Schools (OCPS).

• Working with community agencies to support the inclusion and transition of individuals with IDD.

After completing the program, scholars will be uniquely qualified to teach and support future generations of students with disabilities (SWD), and lead new programs at colleges and universities by including more inclusive opportunities for persons with IDD.
