UCF Counseling Conference Explored Coping with Loss and Hope


Orlando and the world experienced tragedies that tested people’s valiance and faith last year. The UCF Counseling Conference tackled the calamities and issues with its theme “Leaning into Loss: Developing Strategies for Hope and Thriving.”

The two-day event featured 70 presenters showcasing research about therapy dogs in schools, cultivating happiness, grief and bereavement, and other topics during presentation and poster sessions.

The conference’s highlights included a Hope Wall where attendees shared inspirational thoughts, an Orlando Strong: Helpers and Healers of the PULSE Tragedy panel discussion, and keynote speaker Dr. Jeremy Richman of The Avielle Foundation who discussed “Violence, Compassion, and the Brain.”
