KnightED Talks Student Showcase Puts Spotlight on Student Presenters

Our college’s teacher candidates delivered more than 30 presentations during the KnightED Talks Student Showcase last Saturday.

The event provided students with an opportunity to share their research, hone their presentation skills, and participate in a professional development conference.

Secondary Biology Education senior and UCF NSTA Student Chapter president and founding member Allison Mignardi received the $500 KnightEDTalks Student Showcase Undergraduate Scholarship. The scholarship will be funding a state educational professional conference of Mignardi’s choice along with covering the conference’s registration, lodging, and travel expenses.

Conference highlights included insightful sessions by local school principals and district administrators and 2017 Seminole County Public Schools Teacher of the Year and our college’s alumnus Chris Pombonyo, ’12, providing students with a dynamic, interactive, and fun-filled keynote presentation with his Crystal Lake Elementary School students who are the stars in his Hollywood-themed classroom.

Students gain even more knowledge and professional development during weekly KnightED Talks workshops conducted by our college’s faculty, PreK-12 educators, and other field experts during the Fall and Spring semesters.
