Membership Information
Initial Membership
- Intent to continue in the field of education
- Leadership attributes
- Pay an $80.00 initiation fee which includes local and national dues for the first year, a membership pin, certificate, society creed, and an honorable dinner ceremony
- Undergraduate students must have at least a first-term sophomore standing (30 semester hours), a GPA of 3.0 in education courses programmed, in progress, or completed
- Graduate students must have regular admission status in an accredited institution, six or more semester hours (or its equivalent) in that institution, at least 12 semester hours (or its equivalent) of education courses, and a graduate-level GPA of a 3.25.
- Faculty must be a faculty member of the University of Central Florida and provide evidence of support for the chapter and its programs. The number of faculty initiated at any one initiation ceremony shall not exceed 10% of the total number of initiates
- Professional Educators employed as teachers or administrators in schools may be invited to membership upon the recommendation of the Membership Committee and the approval of the Executive Committee
After Induction
- Undergraduate students are expected to maintain their 3.0 GPA
- Graduate students are expected to maintain their 3.25 GPA
- While attendance is not mandatory at events, each member is required to earn a certain 10 points by the end of the semester by attending meetings and community service events. Each meeting is worth 2 points and each community service event is worth 5 points. (Volunteering to run a table during fundraising activities is considered community service and will also be worth 5 points). A select number of members who earn the most points by the end of the semester will be eligible for a scholarship from the chapter.
