About our Reading Programs

UCF College of Community Innovation and Education's Reading Programs were developed by Reading and Language Arts faculty members in the College in the Spring of 2009 with the intent to foster collaboration and promote effective literacy instruction in education.

Current and future impact of the program include:

  • Providing high quality literacy instruction through the development of various programs (interwoven with UCF Education program course work to offer authentic teaching experiences for our education students)
  • The development of the UCF Summer Enrichment Program in Literacy, which offers summer programs for local 1st-8th grade students in reading and writing
  • Providing contexts for focused research efforts of UCF faculty and graduate students
  • Establishing links with the community that are supportive of literacy efforts
  • Collaborating with local districts and schools to promote quality literacy instruction
  • Promoting family literacy development
  • Offering grants for research initiatives
