Criteria for Selection

  • Proposals must be typed and/or legible, complete, and turned in by:
    March 15, 2008, by 12 PM EST
    Presenters will be notified via email by:
    March 19, 2007 by 5 PM EST
  • Proposals will be accepted based on the relevancy of the topic to the conference theme (e.g., K-12 literacy, technology and literacy, children’s literature, literature circles, student motivation, vocabulary, comprehension, content reading, technology, writing, ESOL, diverse students).
  • Proposals should contribute to the overall program balance including grade levels, and topics.
  • Proposals that promote commercial materials or programs will not be accepted.
  • Disqualifying factors include content unrelated to reading or literacy, failure to complete the proposal according to the guidelines, repetition of materials previously presented, and the promotion of specific materials.

Presentation Guidelines

  • Presenter is responsible for the handout and copying costs.
  • Presenter is expected to provide symposium committee with an electronic or hard copy of presentation materials.
  • Presenter should use visuals that can be seen by the entire audience.
  • Presentation should be 45-minutes long.
