Teaching and Learning Principles
Our Master of Arts (M.A.) in Mathematics Education "retools" degreed individuals who are not certified to teach mathematics to become effective teachers of secondary (grades 6-12) or middle school (grades 5-9) mathematics. There is also a non-certification, Community College Teaching Track for those interested in teaching at the post-secondary level. The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Mathematics Education is an advanced professionalization degree for certified mathematics teachers. This degree enhances mathematics teachers' professional knowledge and skills with considerable emphasis placed on the application of current research in Mathematics Education. Both degrees are dedicated to providing graduates with exceptional pedagogical and subject matter knowledge and skills by focusing on research-based "state-of-the-art" best practices in Mathematics Education.
The Office of Graduate Studies provides leadership for and administers
