Sandra L. Robinson, Ph.D.
Executive Director, Morgridge International Reading Center
Dr. Robinson came to the University of Central Florida in 1997 as Dean and Professor. In 2002, she was named University Distinguished Professor. In 2008, she was named Coyle Eminent Scholar. Prior to coming to UCF, she served as Interim Dean and Professor and NCAA/SEC Faculty Athletics Representative at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. Prior to that she taught at Marquette University and has taught children in grades Pre-K through six in classroom settings in West Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
She has made scholarly presentations in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Africa. Her academic focus has been on early childhood education, reading, and children's fears and stress. She has served as PI for grants totaling $70M.
Dr. Robinson was recently involved in the facilitation of a new initiative, the Morgridge International Reading Center, a collective effort to facilitate collaboration, coordination, and communication among professional educators, research scholars, authors of children's books and other stakeholders with interests in literacy.
Dr. Enrique A. Puig
Director, Morgridge International Reading Center
Enrique A. Puig is the Director of the Morgridge International Reading Center and former Director of the Florida Literacy and Reading Excellence project at UCF; a multi-million dollar grant charged with providing professional learning opportunities in Florida. He currently teaches graduate and undergraduate K-12 content area reading courses at UCF and is the Director of the Teaching Academy & Toni Jennings Exceptional Education Institute. Enrique taught 25 years in Orange County Public Schools, Florida and has worked with numerous school districts from the U.S. Virgin Islands to Washington. He is author of Guided Reading and Spanish Speaking Students (Scholastic) and co-author of The Literacy Coach: Guiding in the Right Direction, 2ed. (Allyn & Bacon/Pearson) and The Literacy Leadership Team: Sustaining and Expanding Success (Allyn & Bacon/Pearson). As a classroom teacher, he was recognized as a Title I Distinguished Educator by the Florida Department of Education and continues to work with students to further his knowledge of learning and teaching. Enrique has presented on coherent K-12 literacy acquisition, instruction, and coaching in Canada, Hungary, New Zealand, Scotland, and Sweden.
Ms. Shena Parks
Coordinator of Administrative Services, Morgridge International Reading Center
Shena Parks is the Coordinator of Administrative Services for the Morgridge International Reading Center. She is a Bright Future Scholarship and National Collegiate Scholar Award recipient with a degree in Business Administration/ Human Resource Management from UCF. Prior to joining the Morgridge International Reading Center, Shena served as the Office Manager and Coordinator of Administrative Services for Florida Online Reading Professional Development (FOR-PD). Florida's first online, large scale professional development project for teachers. She is currently completing her Master's degree in Public Administration.
