Learn how the fusion of Adlerian Play Therapy (AdPT) and Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) is helping children at a young age in the most sound, empirically-supported manner during the Integration of Interpersonal Neurobiology and Play Therapy Workshop, presented by Dr. Dalena Dillman Taylor, Ph.D., LPC, LMHC, RPT and Naomi Wheeler, M.A., NCC. The IPNB model encompasses several neuroscience theories, the understanding of neuroplasticity, and the midbrain's affective emotional-motivational systems. This model emphasizes the value of new experiences and interaction in the social environment to reshape and restructure both brain and behavior. AdPT, one of the most widely used child-counseling approaches, shares many conceptual similarities with IPNB and neuroscience research, including emphasis on childhood experience, social interest and relationships, purposefulness of behavior, holism, and the internalized narrative or self-schema.
The UCF Counseling Conference aims to support all counselors in the community of Central Florida through relevant and innovative professional development sessions with the goal of inspiring and empowering their work with clients and students. Presentations are delivered by a diverse set of practitioners, graduate students, and university faculty, which enables a range of topics and issues that address the current needs of counseling practitioners.
The Conference provides mental health professionals in the field with advanced training in Adlerian Play Therapy.
