Education Ph.D. - Mathematics Education Track

Graduate Studies

College Wide Programs

The Ph.D. in Education-Mathematics Education is designed to prepare mathematics educators for careers in teaching and research. The program will assist students in opening doors to careers in preparing teachers of mathematics,

  • teaching postsecondary mathematics, and
  • conducting research in mathematics education.

Doctoral students in the Mathematics Education Track engage in undergraduate teaching, participate in research activities with faculty, experience internships, and interact with the nationally acclaimed Lockheed Martin/UCF Academy for mathematics and Science. Throughout these activities, students are mentored by successful and experienced university mathematics education faculty. Upon entry to the doctoral program, students are expected to have attained a level of mathematics competence, verified by transcript, that is commensurate with their career goals. Those students needing to build their mathematical background will find academic work in the Department of Mathematics to be exciting.

The faculty in the College of Education have a highly collaborative academic relationship with those in Arts and Sciences.
