10:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

LAE 5295: Writing Workshop I (or) LAE 6296: Advanced Writing Workshop (3 credit hours or 60 in-service hours)

The Atlantic Center - University of Central Florida Writing Institute for Teachers will be offered concurrently with the UCF Art Education Studio Experiences course. Classroom educators will experience interactive teaching demonstrations acquiring new ideas and greater confidence in their lessons. They will explore questions about the teaching of writing through discussions of readings and writings about classroom practices for improving instruction.

Teachers will acquire hard and soft copies of specific instructional strategies for immediate use with their students. Specific attention will be paid to helping teachers create instructional writing strategies for classroom use as well as direct emphasis on improving their own writing style and interests. Particular emphasis will be placed on writing for educational and creative publications.

This course can count toward initial certification, recertification and as credits toward the M.Ed. program in Curriculum and Instruction. For students seeking initial teacher certification and were not undergraduate and/or graduate English Majors the workshop can count as the English course prerequisite.

The Atlantic Center/UCF Writing Institute for Teachers is a university accredited ten-day writing workshop for teachers.
