Teacher Certification

Welcome new Career & Technical Education (CTE) teacher...

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to teaching! You may have recently come from business or industry as an "expert" in an occupation or technical area. You are to be applauded for your success and credibility. It is both of these, which permits you to be hired as a Career & Technical Education teacher.

Content expertise and work experience are not enough to make you a teacher. Although knowing your content will go a long way, that alone will only help you survive, not become a Teacher. That is why we are here; to assist in your professional growth from technical worker to professional educator.

We offer college coursework based upon the needs of new CTE Teachers and these courses are included towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Education and Industry Training. We use a performance-based system of relevant projects to your actual teaching or training responsibilities.

ALL the Program courses are only offered through the Internet using the World Wide Web. Both time and location are of your selection; 24 hours a day seven days a week the courses are open. Whether in your home, classroom, or office; wherever you can access the Internet, you can participate in these courses.

Courses are offered every semester, including summers. An in-person Orientation is held once each semester at which time we invite all "newbies" to the Orlando campus of UCF, for a hands-on session.

We are here to assist you in making the transition from business or industry to education smooth and more importantly to prepare you as a competent and caring Career & Technical Education teacher.

Sincerely,

Dr. JoAnn M. Whiteman, Program Coordinator

The coursework is offered online at times convenient to your work and life schedule. Each course is scheduled over a semester with participation using web based discussions and web mail. ALL courses are included in the Bachelor of Science degree:
