Associate Dean JP Mendez, serves as our college's academic dean, and has his faculty tenure home in the Higher Education and Policy Studies program. He has extensive professional, administrative and research experience across the field of higher education. Dean Mendez's research explores the dynamics of postsecondary access, particularly of minorities and low-SES students. He is the lead author of the book, Hispanic-Serving Institutions in American Higher Education: Their Origin, and Present and Future Challenges (2015). Dean Mendez earned his master’s degree in political science from Texas Tech University, and both a J.D. and Ph.D. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Indiana University.
